Mag Tagalog Tayo is a Filipino cultural awareness advocacy group founded by passionate, Philippine-born educators and parents based in Los Angeles, CA. Our ultimate goal has always been to give our own kids a strong affinity for the Filipino culture and heritage, beginning with our national language. Now, we continue our mission to spread this love of culture thru language to more Filipinos (and Filipinos-at-heart!) in our local communities and around the globe.
Our founders are both Philippine-born graduates from the College of Mass Communication at the University of the Philippines, Diliman.
Meet Our Founder, Mutya Bose
With a lifelong passion for working with children, her career spans TV, multimedia, and education. After completing Child Development courses at Mt. San Antonio College, she went on to teach in the La Puente and Pomona school districts. Her Tagalog teaching journey began in 2011, when she created her first learning materials for family and friends—helping them pass on the language to their own children. Today, she continues that mission through Mag Tagalog Tayo, making Tagalog learning fun, engaging, and deeply connected to Filipino culture.
Meet Our Co-Founder, Melissa Laurel-Guba
During the pandemic, she helped design and teach an engaging online Tagalog curriculum for kids—sparking a passion for making language learning enjoyable and accessible. With a background as a skilled communicator, writer, and administrator, she has also successfully ran her own content creation business. Her blend of creativity, organization, and cultural pride drives Mag Tagalog Tayo’s mission to bring authentic Tagalog learning to students around the world.
